A large cabinet of pine and oak, veneered in ebony and "tortoiseshell" (in reality turtleshell) with gilt brass mounts, with panelled doors enclosing drawers and a central pair of doors opening to reveal an architectural interior, black and white floor of ebony and ivory, mirror glass walls and columns; beneath the enclosed section a writing slide veneered in tortoishell, ivory and ebony, mounted on a later, probably eighteenth century stand.
