Collector’s cabinet English Rosewood, about 1830 X1625 This fine rosewood cabinet sat in the Front Drawing Room in Cavendish Crescent. Its drawers contain some of Sir William’s collections of coins and medals, Wedgwood plaquettes and rocks and minerals. The gilt display case on top now houses his extensive collection of polished agate and hardstone vessels. Sir William was an enthusiastic collector of rocks and minerals both in their natural state and when carved and decoratively polished.
