Description
An engraving of John Wilson Croker by James Fraser after Daniel Maclise. This engraving comes from Page 72 of The Maclise Portrait Gallery of Illustrious Literary Characters with Memoirs by William Bates. John Wilson Croker was an author where he published books satirising Irish theatre and Dublin society. He also edited an edition of Boswell's Life of Johnson in 1831 and was a frequent contributor to the Quarterly Review and wrote many other books inclusing Military Events of the French Revolution. He was also an MP for various constituencies and served as Secretary to the Admiralty from 1809 - 1830.
