Engraving of Sir Philip Francis after a painting by James Lonsdale which is in the National Portrait Gallery. Engraved by A Adlard and it says it is after a painting by J Hoppner but this is likely a mistake and it is after the Lonsdale portrait.
Francis was a politician, pamphleteer and colonial administrator. He seems to be the anonymous author known as Junius who wrote a series of letters attacking the government. He opposed Warren Hastings which led to his dismissal.
