Embroidered shawl, wool and silk. Iran (Kerman), 19th century. T12. Given by Miss E.G. Tanner in 1927.
These embroidered cloths have been created using the pateh-duzi technique, characterised by rows of small squares or triangles outlining patternwork and motifs, built around a central emblem. Miss Tanner probably bought these elaborately embroidered textiles in Shiraz, although they were probably made in Kerman.
