- Apostle spoon. An unknown apostle.Originally a seal-top spoon, the top flat part of the seal to take later(19th century) finial of prbable German origin, hexagonal stem.Norfolk born Jygges was active 125-31 in London, producing spoons of fine quality

Spot the Fake!
Two Apostle spoons: S213 and S236
The figure of the apostle at the end of the spoon on the right (S236) was added by an unscrupulous dealer to make it more valuable. Compare it to the genuine Apostle spoon on the left and you can see that the proportions of the figure are wrong and that the spoon handle is too short.
