Apostle spoon. An unknown apostle-- possibly St. Matthew.Gilt. Flat hexagonal stem rayed nimbus. Appenticed to Samual Cawley (q.v.) Wood was a prominent retailer c1660-85. Engraved 'S' under ducal coronet for the Duke of Sussex, purchased by Holburne at the Christie's sale 23rd June 1843 of the Sussex Collection.
