Description
Tea bowl (P184.1) and saucer (P184.2). English, Chelsea, c 1750. Soft-paste porcelain decorated in enamel colours, translucent glaze. Fluted shape and wavy rim, the body of the cup decorated in enamel colours in Kakiemon style, pattern of twisted dragon and tiger.

Tea bowl and saucer Chelsea Porcelain Factory Soft-paste porcelain, between 1749 and 1752 P184 Bequest of James Calder, 1944 Japanese Kakiemon ware was also popular in the West. It is characterised by asymmetrical designs in soft red, yellow, blue and turquoise enamels that emphasise the fine white porcelain. It was much copied by factories in England, France and Germany.
