- Description
- Secretaire bookcase, of oak and pine veneered in mahogany, burr oak and sycamore, English, c 1810. The piece composed of two halves, the upper section containing at top a glazed bookcase with two shelves and glazed doors beneath a regular cornice, below a secretaire or desk with "mock" drawer front which lets down on brass slides to allow admission to a writing top covered in baize, and a rear section of pigeon holes, two short and two long drawers. The lower section with two doors with oval veneered panels, enclosing three sliding shelves.
