Bookcase, one of a pair
Description
Bookcase of rectangular form, oak, veneered in satinwood, the canted front corners with applied ebonised reeded pilasters surmounted by ebonised leopards' heads and supported on ebonised leopard's paw feet, the sides with applied rectangular frames of half-round ebonised mouldings, supported at the back on small ebonised bun feet. The front composed of two glazed doors, the frames veneered in satinwood with half-round mahogany mouldings, now fitted with single sheets of plate glass with pleated silk applied to modern pine fillets behind the glass. The top a slab of white Carrara marble, canted at the front corners to match the shape of the cabinet. The interior fitted with three adjustable shelves. Lock missing.
