- Bookcase, one of a pair, English, satinwood and marble, about 1810
- Description
- Bookcase of rectangular form, oak, veneered in satinwood, the canted front corners with applied ebonised reeded pilasters surmounted by ebonised leopards' heads and supported on ebonised leopard's paw feet, the sides with applied rectangular frames of half-round ebonised mouldings, supported at the back on small ebonised bun feet. The front composed of two glazed doors, the frames veneered in satinwood with half-round mahogany mouldings, now fitted with single sheets of plate glass fitted behind with pleated silk stapled to modern pine fillets. The top a slab of white Carrara marble, canted at front corners to match the shape pf the cabinet. The interior fitted with three adjustable shelves. Lock missing.
