An ivory carved and fretted oriental fan. Initials A.A.W. in centre.
Fan, probably Chinese, late eighteenth or early nineteenth century. Brise fan of carved ivory with a cartouche in the centre wherein the initials ATC lie. The cartouche is surrounded by two circles with carved birds and leaves. The whole is in its own pink and gilt box decorated in gilt diamonds, with a small circular green label on the base inscribed "Temple of Fancy, Southampton & Ryde. M.S. Viener, Jeweller & Importer of Foreign Fancy Goods".
