Description
Tea Bowl, part of a set with Saucer. English, Derby, 1770-80. Porcelain with relief moulding and decorated in enamel colours with gilding. Fluted shape with shallow relief moulding, gilt rim, turquoise band around the top from which are suspended festoons of naturalistic flowers, gilt band around the foot rim.

Tea bowl and saucer Derby Porcelain Factory Soft-paste porcelain, about 1775 C846 Given by Mr C A King, 1928 Plants and flowers were a major source of inspiration for the designers of eighteenth-century porcelain. They were painted in underglaze blue, brightly coloured overglaze enamels or gleaming gold. In naturalistic rococo pieces moulded flowers and leaves form decorative finials, handles and even entire objects.
