- Description
- Letter, part missing, from Jean Sheldon to Sir Francis Holburne, undated, but probably 1796 -7, relating to a letter from her sister Catherine Cussans following the death of Thomas Cussans (1796)."My Dear Brother - I am much obliged to you for the perusal of my Sister's letter the more I think of Mr. Cussans Will the more astonished I am, I fear something not right has happen'd about the Codicil of which she speaks with so much certainty, she poor thing is the sufferer as well as yourself. But the cruel mortification must be to her the appearance to the world of the little consideration he has had for her, likewise the loss of Ditton which from every circumstance she had every reason to look upon as her own & would have been a most comfortable retreat for her in her sorrow.AdieuYrs sincerelyJJLett me know how little Cath (part torn away)............. dayOn the reverse Sir Frans Holburne Bart.Sealed with a black seal
