Description
Eloisa by Thomas Watson (1743-1781) after Daniel Gardner (1750 - 1805). The engraving was published in 1776. The original painting is either lost or in a private collection. A preparatory pastel was made in preparation for it. Gardner was a student of Romney and was a student at the RA. By 1773 he was working with Reynolds. He painted Elizabeth Lamb, Angelica Kauffman, Georgiana Cavendish and many other members of the nobility.
