Description
James Medlycott (Circa 1658-1731) was the first son of Thomas Medlycott. He trained as a lawyer and became the master in Chancery from 1706-1717. He sold the office for £3000. He was the first member of the Medlycott family to purchase Ven House, near Milborne Port in Somerset. He was MP for Milborne Port for three years as a Whig. He was bankrupt by his death in 1731 because of the expenditure on Ven House and his position as MP.
