Elisabeth Frink (1930-1993) was the foremost British sculptor of her generation. Renowned for her haunting and momentous representation of birds, animals and men, her work in bronze stood out from the abstract and experimental media employed by other artists of the time.
Frink was also a prolific printmaker. Having already mastered sculpture and drawing, printmaking and its tactile processes felt familiar to her; it is unsurprising that she soon found a natural aptitude for it. Her etchings, drawings and screenprints are widely appreciated for their vitality, wit and powerful subjects.
