I sometimes see myself as a sort of architectural provocateur – Pablo Bronstein Through rigorous draftsmanship Pablo Bronstein creates works that, at first glance, give the impression of historical authenticity but upon further investigation deliver a fantastical reimagining of the past. Architecture becomes structurally impossible, narratives are warped and our first impressions are challenged with a particular sense of humour. With an eye for beauty and for the absurd, Bronstein combines a variety of architectural structures and styles to create imaginative and often implausible new forms. Bronstein’s practice stems from a profound enjoyment and understanding of both architectural and art history. By viewing history as a series of malleable parts rather than linear and immovable, he offers us new ways to enjoy and interpret the aesthetics of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
