The Wife of Bath is one of Chaucer’s most fascinating characters. Endowed with radical views about married women during the Late Medieval Period, the character was likely of interest to Frink. Her reclined, almost arrogant posture reinforces the Wife’s dominance over her husband and evokes the strong sexual appetite which afforded her the control in her marriage.
