The ribbon puller is typical of the ‘fancy goods’ sold in toyshops at the end of the eighteenth century. The ibis-shaped ribbon puller was for threading ribbon through hats or clothing. Silversmiths John Ford and John Williams
had a shop in Bath. The family were also milliners.
