Michael Eavis
2006
Oil on canvas
After a visit to the 1969 Bath Blues Festival, dairy farmer Michael Eavis decided to organise a similar event on his own farm. “I liked pop music and people so it seemed like a good idea to put the two together”, and so the Glastonbury Festival was born.
Cornwall-based Jason Walker is becoming widely known for his sensitive portraits and thoughtful still lifes. He has used one of the banners from the festival to create a dynamic backdrop to this portrait.
