Fan and box, probably French 1860s to 1870s. Leaf of dark brown or black cotton gauze decorated across the middle with painted and embroidered leave, stems and flowers including poppies, convolvulus, wheat husks etc, with a border all around of gold sequins in Greek Key pattern, open pierced gilded wooden sticks with formal floral pattern, gilt metal ring, black silk cord, gilt and black tassel. The reverse plain. The original black shiny box with gold stars accompanies it.
