Fan, possibly French, late1840s to early 1850s
Description
Fan with paper leaf and tortoiseshell sticks, probably French for the Spanish market, late 1840s to early 1850s, together with a beige velvet box entitled Best Fan with inside label saying J Duvelleroy By Appointment 167 Regent Street London..Inside is a painted paper fan with three cartouches. Two cartouches have pictures of young girls ,one with accompanying spaniel. The third has a married couple and a young girl visiting an old woman.Tortoiseshell panaches and sticks with mother of pearl rivet and gold embellishment complete the fan.
