Fan and box, probably French, late 1860s.The fan composed of linked alternating black velvet and silk moire feather-shaped panels decorated with steel sequins and spangles in circular patterns, tipped with black goose down or marabou, mounted on brise cedarwood sticks inset with steel studs.The fan has a black tassel with four steel drops ending in opalesque beads.The whole is enclosed in its original white box with beige inside.
