- Description
- Bookcase, English, 1913, designed and made by Ernest Gimson (1864-1919)The carcase of walnut with ebony mouldings and details to side panels, ebony stepped feet, two walnut doors to the front, divided in the centre, with six panes of glass above and below the central horizontal division, the glazing bars of ebony. Inside, a central division and six oak adjustable shelves. On the back panel at the base of the left hand side, a label pasted to the wood reads " Jan 16 1913. Received from C.F. Bell Esq. the Sum of thirty five pounds --- shillings and ---- pence for glazed bookcase in burr oak and ebony, Ernest E. Gimson, \'a335."
