- Description
- Side chair, English c 1725-30; walnut frame with woollen and silk embroidered covers on upholstered back and seat. The back of the chair of rectangular form, curved at the shoulders, the seat rail straight, the front legs of restrained cabriole form, the knees delineated by narrow carved lines leading from the seat rail and terminating in scrolls at the base of the knee, simple pad feet; the rear legs of similar form but without decorative carving. The back and seat fully upholstered and covered in contemporary but not original panels of gros-point embroidery in wool and some silk in a floral pattern with large flowers and leaves on a brown ground, fixed to the chair frame with close nailing pattern of domed brass nails.
