Colonna Traiana (Trajan's Column) from Vedute di Roma (Views of Rome) by Piranesi This was one of the Vedute by Piranesi and part of his Vedute di Roma (Views of Rome) series. This series took over three decades of his life and included views of the Colosseum, Arch of Titus, the Pantheon and many other monuments throughout Rome. These were particularly popular with grand tourists as souvenirs. This prints shows Trajan's Column which was built between 107 and 113 AD to represent the Emperor Trajan's victories during the Dacian Wars. It depicts the victory parades, battles, military techniques and the general campaigns of the wars.
