- This was one of the Vedute by Piranesi and part of his Vedute di Roma (Views of Rome) series. This series took over three decades of his life and included views of the Colosseum, Arch of Titus, the Pantheon and many other monuments throughout Rome. These were particularly popular with grand tourists as souvenirs. This print depicts a Heliocaminus - A solar heated room which would have been used to heat the baths and water below. This specific heliocaminus probably represents the one still existing at Hadrian's Villa at Tivoli, near Rome.
