Miss Tanner purchased lacquer book covers with a design based on frescoes at Chehel Soton, a grand pavilion built by Shah Abbas in Isfahan. "... And of these I counted myself fortunate in getting copies on a very reduced scale, in the delicate, highly glazed form of book covers large enough for good sized blotting books, to which use I shall not however put them..."
